Someone told me bank reps can place files with B lendders easier than brokers can. Is that true? Should I jsut go through my bank if I know I'll need a B lender?

Nope, it's usually the other way around. Bank specialists are tied to their institution or maybe a few partners, so they don't have nearly as much flexibility. As a broker, I work with a wide range of A and B lenders, some that the banks don't deal with at all. If you're not a perfect fir for the A side, a broker will almost always have more options for you.
